Itinerary

You’ll meet the tour guide at 8 o’clock in the morning and then head to the bus station, from where you’ll travel to the first destination – Goreme (Cappadocia). You’ll take a local bus and travel for approximately 9.5 hours. Once you arrive, you can walk around with the tour guide and visit the Ortahisar Castle (if you wish). After the long day, you’ll get to the hotel for a night stay. Note: if you want to fly on the air balloon the next day, it’s time to say it to your tour guide.

Rocks, chimneys and underground cities: it’s all about Cappadocia. If you’ve booked the hot air balloon the day before, this morning you’ll have a flight over the breathtaking landscapes at sunrise. After that, it’s time to explore the underground cities – Kaymakli (the widest) and Derinkuyu (the deepest one). Later, at the evening, there’ll be free time. You can either enjoy the nightlife of Goreme or hit up a Whirling Dervish ‘Sema’ performance.

You can hike the hills and mountains of Gorem at the morning, and after take some rest in the hotel at the afternoon. If your legs are a little tired from all the walking, you can try a local hamam at the evening.

This is the last day in the Cappadocia area, so it’s time to explore everything that left unknown. You can go to the Göreme Open Air Museum, an ancient ruins of monasteries, churches and houses carved into soft volcanic rock. You could also check out a small chilled-out Avanos, that you can reach in 10 minutes by bus. This town is known for its pottery and Red river, that was named because of the red clay on its banks. Take your last photos in Cappadocia as tonight you’ll have a night bus to Istanbul (approximately 10–12 hours).

It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
